"Le Stanze del Pittore"

The Painter's Rooms

In the old days, and till the early '70s, this lovely room facing the southern garden was dedicated to any R&M farm needs, and in particular for painting and coating the many wooden window frames, shutters and doors.

At that time, the space was only accessible through an external flight of stairs from the courtyard, which was making simpler carrying up and down any furniture or materials in the need of restoration. A simple bench standing in the middle, working tools hanging here and there, and drops of colors, diluents and sawdust everywhere. It was called La Stanza del Pittore, the painter room in Italian.

Although that room was paradise for us kids, and despite the many scoldings we received for getting us away, things have largely changed since then: bench and tools are gone, sawdust cleaned, floors restored, and a new door has been opened, linking The Painter Room to a cozy private lounge with two windows, one opening on the southern garden, and the second on the covered veranda.

A lockable door separates this private space from Casafredda upper floor lounge and art studio. The terracotta tiled floor and original wooden and tiled ceilings make the ambience warm and welcoming.

The  large bathroom is accessible from the private lounge, and enjoys a 100x100  crystal & tiles cabin shower, and a window opening on the eastern garden, with the city Cathedral visible in the distance, above the closer village roofs.
